The Coastside Cougars won the inaugural Best in the West Junior PeeWee Pop Warner football game Saturday, defeating Escondido, 24-7.
Chase Hofmann scored on a 72-yard run. He finished with 91 yards rushing. Sam Treanor added a 45-yard run. He rushed for 75 yards. Gavin Tomberlin punched it in from the 1.
Ryan Staal carried the ball four times for 33 yards.
Coastside scored all of its points in the first quarter and made it stand up.
Dante Lucido paced the defense with three sacks. Staal tallied five tackles. Hayden von Almen added five tackles and a sack. Will Fullerton finished with four tackles.
