Gunn had plenty of chances to get on the board, but goalkeeper Louie Garcia had a great game for the Cougars to preserve a 1-0 varsity soccer victory on Nov. 28.

The game’s only goal came late in the second half. The Cougars had a corner kick and senior Nick Moore headed it into the goal.

Half Moon Bay had some key players who helped get the win, including Octavio DeLeon, Michael Whitlatch and Giovanni Hamilton on the offensive side and defenders Damian Gutierrez and Miguel Aguilar.

Both teams started cold in the Cougars home opener. But Mykola Ediger’s 12 first-half points, a late first-quarter spark off the bench from Michael Hourani, and consistent strong defensive play allowed Half Moon Bay to take a 27-14 advantage into half time.

Half Moon Bay extended the lead to 17 after three. Ben McKnight led all scorers with 17, including 8-for-10 from the line in the second half. Laray Crossley led the Bulldogs with 12.
