“I also wanted to comment about S.K. Jones’ letter in which he said that English proficiency levels at Half Moon Bay High School are unacceptable. It takes five to eight years to become proficient enough in English to have an academic level of English. Mr. Jones is mistaken in thinking that the local schools are doing a bad job. It just takes time. The test to be English proficient is very rigorous. I would bet that many kids who are English-only children could not pass that test.”
