Jon Royall was born and raised in Erie, Penn. He joined the Marine Corps and served two tours in Vietnam. Upon his return to the States, he worked as a TV repairman in San Francisco making house calls. He was intrigued with the interesting people he met while working in that field. After exploring several different paths, he chose the field of biomedical engineering and worked 10 years in Ventura County, Calif., before being lured back to the Bay Area. He was chief biomedical engineer for the Daughters of Charity Hospitals along the Peninsula, with headquarters at Seton Hospital in Daly City for many years.

He enjoyed traveling in his RV and crossed the country in 2015 to visit family in Erie. Jon loved photography, wind surfing, and enjoyed sailing his boat around the Bay while he lived in San Rafael. He was a devoted follower of Buddhism and had fond memories of his trip to Tibet. He lived for many years in Half Moon Bay, Calif., before moving to Viamonte in Walnut Creek in 2020.

Jon died Monday, Aug. 15, of complications of heart failure at John Muir Hospital. He leaves behind his son, Jon Jr., daughter-in-law Tanya and grandson Jonathan, as well as his partner, Charlotte Lingo. We treasure the time we shared with this loving man. We are blessed to have had him in our lives.
