Anyone looking for an opportunity to make new friends on the coast might consider an 83-year-old camp in Loma Mar.
YMCA Camp Jones Gulch offers many programs. For example, Camp Jones Gulch offers a “Bold and Gold” outdoor leadership program for teens, and camps and retreats for families and women.
One good way to meet new friends and revive old friendships is through the Camp Jones Gulch alumni reunion later this month. Camp Jones Gulch Alumni Reunion allows families and friends to get together and remember past times at the camp.
“Since this is only our second alumni reunion, we are estimating that about 50 people will attend, but we want to make it much bigger,” said the camp administrative services director, Colby Wiley.
Highlights planned for the weekend include campfires, a scavenger hunt, kids club and a parents’ night out.
Check-in will be at 6 p.m. on Aug. 17 at 11000 Pescadero Creek Road in La Honda. Participants can register to attend the Saturday-only session or opt to stay for all three days.
Overnight campers will be spending two nights with five meals provided during the weekend. Payment for adults is $100, youth $75, and children under 5 are free. It is open to everyone — returning campers, staff members and anyone else with a connection to the camp.
