Senior Coastsiders has been selected as the 2019 Nonprofit of the Year in California’s 13th state Senate district.
The senior services organization is one of Half Moon Bay’s most visible and well-used. Housed in a large complex of senior housing and services on Main Street, the organization provides meals, learning and socialization opportunities, care management and much more. It has been a fixture on the coast for 40 years.
The recognition will be noted in Sacramento on June 5, which has been designated California Nonprofits Day. State Sen. Jerry Hill made the choice, according to a news release from Senior Coastsiders, which noted staff and volunteers alike were humbled by the news.
“This just came out of the blue,” Senior Coastsiders Executive Director Sandy Winter said on Thursday.
Winter and Senior Coastsiders board President Carol Joyce plan to attend ceremonies in Sacramento on June 5.
