The San Mateo County Harbor Commission will be discussing a restroom proposal for the Pillar Point RV park at its June 19 meeting and is hoping residents turn out to express their opinions.
Harbor District Interim General Manager John Moren said in the staff report that initial design work will cost up to $13,000 and that more money will be needed for architectural and engineering work. Staff envisions working with the city of Half Moon Bay and K&N Properties, which leases the space, to seek grants to cover the full construction cost.
The lack of public facilities on the property are the result of a tortured history. There is currently no coastal development permit for the work already done on site, and both the Harbor District and the city of Half Moon Bay agree that a restroom with an outdoor shower would help move a permit application forward.
The meeting is at 6:30 p.m. on June 19 on the second floor of 504 Avenue Alhambra in El Granada.
