Joint Venture Silicon Valley announced Tuesday that a prominent Bay Area management consultant and Coastside resident is the recipient of the prestigious 2013 David Packard Award for civic entrepreneurship.
Lenny Mendonca of McKinsey & Company will receive the award at the State of the Valley Conference in San Jose on Feb. 8.
The Packard Award is Joint Venture’s highest honor, presented annually to an individual who brings an entrepreneurial, cross-boundary, problem-solving approach to Silicon Valley’s challenges, according to a prepared release.
“Lenny Mendonca personifies the ideals exemplified in the Packard Award,” said Chris DiGiorgio, co-chair of the Joint Venture board of directors. “He is a regional thought leader and a community treasure who works selflessly behind the scenes to improve our region. I salute the Packard Award jury for its judicious and well-earned selection.”
Mendonca has a variety of roles for McKinsey & Company. He is chairman emeritus of the Bay Area Council and the Economic Institute of the Bay Area, and was vice chair of the Stanford Graduate School of Business Advisory Council. He serves on many business, education, civic and community boards and foundations. Mendonca also is the founder and co-owner of the Half Moon Bay Brewing Company.
