A woman apparently lost control of her vehicle at a prominent intersection in downtown Half Moon Bay on Friday night. The car hit a stop sign at Mac Dutra Plaza, then veered across the intersection of Main Street and Kelly Avenue before crashing through a plywood fence.

The San Mateo County Sheriff's Office had few details about the crash, which occurred at about 8:45 p.m., across from City Hall. Detective Rosemerry Blankswade said the woman was in her 60s. She did not know the driver's home town. It wasn't immediately clear whether the driver was charged with a traffic violation.

Blankswade said no one was injured in the incident. Authorities do not suspect drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.

It was the second such incident in as many days along Main Street in Half Moon Bay. On Wednesday an elderly male drove his car into a wall two blocks to the south.
