A woman's body was found floating in the ocean near the Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay at around 9:45 on Sunday morning, authorities say.
The woman was discovered by an off-duty Pillar Point harbor patrol employee who was fishing in the area. The employee alerted the Harbormaster's office to the situation and on-duty patrol arrived to retrieve the body.
Officials say that there doesn't seem to be anything suspicious relating to the incident.
“It didn't appear that there was any foul play,” said San Mateo County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Rosemerry Blankswade. “She still had some jewelry on her.”
The women was estimated to be between the ages of 50 and 70.
As of late afternoon on Sunday, the San Mateo County Coroner's office reported that the woman had not been identified.
