Big Ideas Fest, a three-day event hosted by the local Institute for the Study of Knowledge Management in Education, is returning to the Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay, Sunday through Dec. 10.

The conference focuses on opportunities for innovation and cutting-edge thinking in education. At the end of the event, organizers recognize an individual with the Innovation in Action award and funding to help with a project that could improve education. Last year’s recipient was Shiza Shahid, co-founder and CEO of the Malala Fund.

This year’s speakers include Tahrir Academy founder Wael Ghonim, KhodeUp founder and teacher Ming Horn, and 23andMe Chief Medical Officer Jill Hagenkord, among others.
