“We are totally stoked” to announce the 30th annual Tsunami Rangers/Reef madness Sea Kayak Race and Festival for June 7, said Tsunami Ranger Michael Powers.

The race, which Powers described as an homage to ancient rites of coastal dwellers welcoming springtime, will begin at 11:30 a.m. from Miramar Beach on that Sunday. Kayakers will wind toward Mavericks and back.

They will return to a potluck feast in a party with the rock music of King Cajon and the Country Gentlemen with local vocalist Susan Pate.

Participants must be experienced kayakers familiar with extreme conditions, and come equipped with a sturdy boat, wetsuit, helmet and Coast Guard-approved life vest.
