The Half Moon Bay branch of the American Association of University Women honored its 2019 scholarship recipients on June 15.
Four former Half Moon Bay High School students were awarded $2,000 mid-college scholarships to apply toward their studies. The winners are Kailani Bowers, at the University of California, Davis; Rose George, at Cogswell Polytechnical College; Angelica Haro, at California State University, Chico; and Gabriela Huerta at California State University, East Bay. All the students will be enrolling in their junior or senior year of college in fall.
The association also awarded scholarships to six incoming eighth-grade girls at Cuhna Intermediate School so that they can attend Tech Trek math and science camp at Stanford University. Emily Thorne, Deia Kerseg-Foreman, Ellie Patchett, Samara Bowman, Aliya Wicks and Catalina Gonzalez-Johnston will join approximately 70 other Bay Area girls this summer for a week of workshops in marine biology, astronomy, forensics, computer coding, engineering and robotics.
