There’s no doubt about it, stories about furry, four-legged friends warm the heart and bring a smile to pet-loving faces.

Lynn Sunday, a local author with a gift for spinning the short story, is being featured in the newest edition of “Chicken Soup for the Soul: The Dog Really Did That?”

The story, titled “When Hootie Met Roxie,” is a tale about how Sunday’s dog Hootie chose Roxanne to be his companion and subsequently the new family pet.

The action begins on Main Street in Half Moon Bay when the dogs meet near a favorite tree.

Available on Aug. 8, the story is an excellent example of the power of adoption as well as Sunday’s 10th contribution to the Chicken Soup for the Soul series.
