The Half Moon Bay Seadogs, a 9-and-under baseball team, finished second at the Burlingame Tournament, held June 22-24.
Half Moon Bay fell in the title game to Mountain View Red, 9-6. That was the same team Half Moon Bay defeated in the second game of the tournament.
Peter Popiel and Casildo Guevara paced the offense with two hits each.
Half Moon Bay advanced to the title game with a 5-2 win over San Mateo, a team Half Moon Bay never beat before.
Cade Duncan and Lukas Meighen each homered. Tristan Hofmann collected two hits and knocked in two runs. Kyler Moore, Guevara and Popiel all singled. Meighen went the distance to get the win, striking out 12 while walking two.
Popiel was the story in the 4-1 win over Foster City in Game 3.
He tossed a two-hitter, walked one and struck out 11. He paced the offense with three hits. Meighen and Gino Fenech added hits. Jack Nauman got two hits. Fenech had four assists at second base.
Popiel and Owen Murray collected hits in a 7-2 win over Mountain View. Mykola Ediger struck out six while allowing nine hits. Meighen recorded eight putouts at first.
Half Moon Bay began the tournament with a 6-4 win over San Bruno.
Duncan paced the offense with a two-run homer. Murray collected three hits, including a double, and drove in three runs. Fenech, Moore, Mykola Ediger and Justin Cunningham contributed base hits.
