The upcoming golf tournament benefiting Coastside Adult Day Health Center has brought many generous people together to make a difference in the lives of our frail elderly.
Most recently, local artist Chiyori Filion and photographer Don Dotter have donated Filion’s unique jewelry and watercolors, along with award-winning photographs from Dotter, for a silent auction on Satruday at Half Moon Bay Joe’s restaurant, the premier sponsor, after the tournament at Half Moon Bay Golf Links.
Filion recently visited Coastside Adult Day Health Center and showed her beautiful jewelry to two of our clients. The first question out of their mouths was, “How much does it cost?” They enjoyed trying on the pieces and modeling them for the other clients.
A trained illustrator, Filion does beautiful watercolors and has discovered her passion for making jewelry. She finds sea glass, which she fashions into beautiful pendants adorned with pearls and semiprecious gemstones. She calls her pieces Sea Glassica. She also makes origami earrings out of hand-folded Japanese paper, accented with pearls.
In addition to statement-making necklaces, she has harvested antique glass from local farms, carnival glass, Depression glass, pieces of old bottles and patterned pieces. She tumbles them to soften them and makes gorgeous historical pieces she refers to as the Eco-Glassica collection. She sells her pieces through www.studiochiyorisf.com and www.ecoglassica.com.
Thank you to all our sponsors, golfers and volunteers who have generously contributed their time and resources to make this a successful golf tournament for Coastside Adult Day Health Center!
