This letter is written in support of a recall of Coastside Fire Protection District Directors Doug Mackintosh, Mike Alifano and Gary Riddell.

Having heard a lot of discussion in the media and from neighbors about the issue of replacing the Cal Fire contract, I attended the meeting of the board at the fire station last week. I was appalled by the way in which the meeting was conducted and the attitudes of Mackintosh and Alifano toward public opinion and dissent from members of the board. They were extremely evasive about costs of the proposed new department, did not make any specific proposals as to its benefits, and approved a budget with $2 million in “transition costs” while denying that a decision had been made to change to a new department.

They refused to answer direct questions from the public, and seemed to be determined to railroad through their preferences despite opposition and without justification. Vote to recall.

Welcome to the discussion.

Jan was just the newest member of the community to wake up and smell the coffee that has been brewing down at the Fire Station this year. The Majority Directors, Alifano, Riddell & Mackintosh, had hoped that the public would remain blissfully ignorant until the dirty deed was done, nad they had been able to successfully sneak their buddies back in at the Higher salaries and benefits at the Taxpayers expense.
Thank goodness some of us have been paying attention!!!

Jan, sorry that your outrage has come late, but better late than never!
