Larry Paul Butte, our dear husband, father and friend, died suddenly on July 8, 2015, while on a fishing trip in Northern Nevada.
James Walter Pearce, a 37-year resident of Half Moon Bay, passed away unexpectedly on Friday at St. Francis Pavilion in Daly City.
A 20-year member of The Unknown Motorcycle Club, Steven “Atomic” Gale was killed on June 18, 2015, in a motorcycle accident in Oregon, while doing what he loved best, riding his Harley-Davidson with his brothers.
Joy Myer, 57, of Half Moon Bay, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on June 23, 2015.
Scott Durigano was killed in a bike accident on July 3, 2015, in Santa Cruz, Calif.
Jerry Donovan, longtime resident of Half Moon Bay, passed away in Meridian, Idaho, on July 8, 2015, after a long battle with cancer.
Mary Jones, a longtime resident of Montara, passed away June 25, 2015. She was 63.
Mr. Domingos Sousa Rocha, age 81, “entered into rest” on Friday, July 3, 2015, at Seton Medical Center in Moss Beach, Calif. Mr. Rocha was born in Cinco Ribeiras, Terceira, Azores, and has lived in Half Moon Bay for 42 years.
Kristina, or Kris to those who knew and loved her, died peacefully on June 10, 2015, with her loving husband, Ed, by her side holding her hand, and surrounded by some of her closest friends. Her quiet bravery and positive outlook, despite the serious health issues with which she had to contend, were an inspiration to those close to her. Kris believed in living life to the fullest extent possible, and she was never happier than when experiencing a new destination with her favorite traveling companion — Ed, her husband of 20 years. Together they visited a dozen countries in addition to other travels within the U.S.
Edward Powell, of Half Moon Bay, died peacefully at his home on June 14, 2015, after a prolonged illness. He was 82.
Michael Sellers, a longtime resident of the Half Moon Bay area, passed away March 19, 2015.

Gloria (Fischer) Dudfield passed peacefully in her sleep on May 27. She and her husband, James Dudfield (deceased), became Half Moon Bay residents in the early 1970s. Gloria had a Master of Arts degree from the Art Institute of San Francisco. She also earned a California teaching credential for adult education in 1977. She worked mainly in oils and ceramics.
Dr. Jay Adams, born March 6, 1932, in Oak Park, Ill., passed away in his home in Brentwood, Calif., on May 30, 2015.
Linda Raye was born in San Mateo, Calif. She grew up in Modesto and moved to Half Moon Bay in 1976.
There will be a celebration of Cindy’s life from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, July 12, at the Half Moon Bay Yacht Club, 214 Princeton Ave. The Yacht Club is located in Princeton at the harbor across from the town of El Granada.
A memorial service for former Half Moon Bay resident Joan Tucker will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 17, at the small I.D.E.S. hall in Half Moon Bay.
Anna lived at the Half Moon Bay Senior Village for many years and was an active member of the Senior Coastsiders as well. She saw a lot of changes in her 88 years: She was raised on a farm in Montana (the off-grid way) and worked in a Rosie-the-Riveter job during World War II. She came to Palo Alto in 1945 and graduated from Palo Alto High School.
After 15 years of being cancer free, Roger was taken from us unexpectedly on May 25, 2015, only four days after his 63rd birthday. He leaves behind his loving wife, Sue De Soto, of 40 years; son Benjamin and his wife, Kathrine Ayer, and their two children, Dillon and Hayley; his daughter, Sara, and her husband, John Giovannoni; and his beloved dog and sidekick Buddy. He also leaves behind sisters Carole, Diane and Bert and his brother, Larry, along with many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Roger De Soto, and his mother, Rose Marie De Soto.

Manuel Ferreira, born Oct. 28, 1937, in Ribeirinha, São Miguel, Azores, passed away May 21, 2015, in Folsom, Calif., the loving husband of 48 years to Maria Ferreira, loving father of Lorena Harrigan (Thomas) and Nilda Bernard (Jeff), loving grandfather of Dana Harrigan. He is also survived by brothers Eduardo Costa (Maria), Benjamin Costa (Isabel), sisters Lorena Cantrell (Craig), Laura Paulino (Marino), stepsister Diodata Perreira and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Manuel Ferreira Da Costa and Trindade Moniz Medeiros.
Surrounded by his family, Ralph slipped away at sunrise in Brentwood, Calif. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Margaret. Ralph was a longtime Coastside resident. He leaves behind his daughter, Barbara Mathewson (John), of Moss Beach, son Ralph E. Weidling, of Brentwood, beloved grandchildren Robin Fain, of Montara, Charlie Fain (Bridget), of Brentwood, and his adored great-granddaughters, Alison and Shelby Fain, of Brentwood.
Kristin Lynn Garrison, formerly Thompson, 57, of Pescadero, La Honda and Fresno, Calif., died Tuesday, May 26, 2015, at the home she shared with her beloved husband, Patrick.
Harold “Hal” DeBruyn, of Montara, Calif., (formerly of Natick, Mass.) passed away peacefully Monday, May 25, at age 90, following a brief illness.
Jean Simm, of Moss Beach, Calif., crossed over the Rainbow Bridge on Sunday, May 31, 2015, at home in the arms of her husband, best friend and lover. She was 79.

Elizabeth Ann Elder, most recently a resident of Half Moon Bay, passed away on May 11, 2015. A memorial service will be held at the Community United Methodist Church, 777 Miramontes St. in Half Moon Bay, at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 6.

Cynthia passed away suddenly in her home in Half Moon Bay, Calif. She was born in San Francisco, to Denis and Marilyn O’Leary. She grew up in Pacifica, Calif., and enjoyed living her adult life in Half Moon Bay.

Victor San Agustin, who came to California from Guam many years ago, passed away suddenly on May 11, 2015, of natural causes. He was 62 years old and had been dealing with multiple illnesses for some time.
Walter Joseph Pacheco passed away peacefully at his home on May 5, surrounded by family in a room filled with love.
David Sikes died at home on Thursday, May 7, 2015. He passed as he lived with grace. David was 73.

David, beloved son of Zerne and Elizabeth Haning, died unexpectedly in San Francisco. In addition to his parents, David is survived by his brother John Haning (Caryn) and sister Sarah Garbarino (Gary), uncle and aunts Jim and Ruth Morgan, Emily Hewetson and Dorothy Simanek, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
James Richard Weersing, 76, died surrounded by family on Saturday, April 25, 2015, in San Francisco. Born on Feb. 13, 1939, in Los Angeles, Calif., Jim received both his bachelor’s (1960) and master’s in business administration (1962) from Stanford University.
Gloria passed away peacefully on April 7, 2015, at her home in Half Moon Bay with her family at her side.
Jerry died peacefully at home early in the morning on the first day of April. His wife, Marlene, was at his side. He had been struggling with chronic pulmonary disease for several years.
Robert Douglas Robertson passed away peacefully on March 12, 2015. Bob was born and raised in Vancouver, Canada. He became a Christian at age 14.
Nadine Elizabeth Dyches, 74, passed away suddenly on March 25, 2015, in Roseville, Calif.
Joan passed peacefully after an extended illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, Vera and Russ Daniels, of Paso Robles, Calif.
June Torre, a resident of Half Moon Bay for 60 years, passed away on March 14, 2015, at age 87. She was born in Fertile, Minn. She married David Torre, a contractor and a native of Half Moon Bay. They raised four children: Philip Torre, Gary Torre, Paula Micallef and Cherie Furnari, all from Half Moon Bay. June had nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She will be missed greatly.
Nancy Elizabeth Glass, a fifth-generation San Mateo County resident, passed away Feb. 24, in Palo Alto, Calif., at the age of 87. Nancy was born Nov. 9, 1927, the only child of Eric and Elizabeth Alsford. She attended Half Moon Bay High School and San Mateo Junior College.
Judith passed away in her Moss Beach home on Jan. 6, 2015, due to complications from health issues. She is preceded in death by parents Kaye and Leah Benjamin, daughter Julia Ann Doll and brother Dexter Kaye Benjamin. She was 75 years old.
