Two drivers were taken to the hospital on Monday morning following a head-on crash that completely shut down rush-hour traffic on Highway 1 at Devil’s Slide.
The crash occurred around 7:10 a.m. when a southbound vehicle crossed the yellow divider line into oncoming traffic, according to California Highway Patrol officials. The driver collided into a northbound car, and the wreckage impeded most of the two-lane highway.
Traffic was completely halted on the highway for nearly an hour. CHP troopers began rerouting cars and directing one-way traffic around 8 a.m. Devil’s Slide was completely reopened at 8:30 a.m.
The northbound driver reportedly suffered a broken ankle and was taken to Stanford Medical Center. The southbound driver complained about aches and pains and was taken to Mills-Peninsula Hospital.
