Half Moon Bay High

Howdy, Cougar fans! Gallop on down to the fifth annual Western Fundraiser Night, hosted by the Parent Advisory Council, at Long Branch Saloon from 6 to 10 p.m. on Friday. Get some grub and hit up the old canteen to quench your thirst while trying your luck with casino games, auctions and raffles. Tickets are $50 buckaroos. Gold nuggets will also be collected. The money will support academic and enrichment opportunities at the high school. Go to www.hmbhspac.com for more information.

La Honda-Pescadero

These boots, flip-flops, tennis shoes, clogs or other footwear are made for walking and rolling, so put them to work for International Walk to School Day. The La Honda-Pescadero Unified School District was awarded a grant from the City/County Association of Governments of San Mateo County, worth about $47,000, to fund a Safe Routes to School program. School officials hope it will encourage kids to travel in safe, sustainable healthy ways.

Sea Crest School

Twist and shout for the middle school dance. Students can get their groove on, 7 to 9:30 p.m. on Friday.

Cunha Intermediate School

Sixth-graders will have the chance to explore the great outdoors at the YMCA’s Jones Gulch location in La Honda, Monday through Oct. 12. Students can get their feet wet in outdoor education as they visit tide pools, marshes, redwoods and more.
