San Mateo County Sheriff’s deputies were investigating a suspicious vehicle near Strawflower Village on Monday morning.

At 4:21 a.m. there was a noise complaint at 411 Chesterfield Ave. in Half Moon Bay. Sheriff’s deputies responded and found a suspicious vehicle in which four subjects were drinking.

A deputy on the scene said that one of the occupants acted in a suspicious manner. A deputy went to cuff him, but the suspect fled. As a chase ensued in the surrounding area, reinforcement was called in.

A second deputy stepped in to try to detain the suspect. The suspect attacked that second deputy, according to officials. As the two fought, the deputy pushed a button that opened the door to his cruiser and the Sheriff’s canine engaged the suspect.

The dog bit the suspect, and the suspect was taken into custody. Sheriff’s officials continued to search the area for evidence on Monday morning.
