A dead man found Monday morning at Surfer’s Beach was identified as Daniel Eric, a 44-year-old resident of Pacifica.

A witness said Eric’s body was found at Surfer’s Beach and that a helicopter could be seen through the morning fog, apparently searching for clues to how his body may have arrived on the beach. The body was first discovered around 7:30 a.m. Monday when a pedestrian noticed a lifeless body in street clothing near the beach’s walking path.

San Mateo County Sheriff’s officials indicated the body had no signs of foul play or immediate evidence of trauma. His vehicle was found nearby, she said.

Sheriff’s officials discovered a flashlight near Eric’s body, and a witness in the area said someone was walking on the beach with a flashlight around midnight on Sunday.
