Heritage tree removal

A maintenance worker starts a chainsaw as work began to remove a long row of old Monterey Cypress trees on the campus of Sea Crest School, earlier this afternoon. The removal effort has drawn opposition from local residents who pointed out that the grove is classified as protected "heritage trees," while the Sea Crest administration considered them to be a hazard to their student body.
