It’s the end of one year and the birth of the new one, and that means that many clubs, restaurants and entertainment venues around the Coastside will sparkle with live music, champagne toasts and balloon drops when the big hand reaches midnight on Jan 1.
It also means that Coastsiders will be out and about heading for their favorite places to celebrate the New Year. Among the festivities scheduled:
Half Moon Bay Brewing Company
(728-2739): The restaurant will close at 9 p.m. but in the bar Tia Carroll and her band will start off the New Year’s Eve entertainment with R&B.
Ritz-Carlton Half Moon Bay
(712-7000): A New Year’s Eve dinner and lounge party is scheduled in the Observatory Room with deejay Dave Tillman playing the hits of the 1960s. The charge is $225 per person. Reservations are required; call 712-7040. Or head for the Conservatory for classic rock, funk and soul by The Lumberyard starting at 9 p.m.; there will also be champagne for purchase and a balloon drop at midnight.
Old Princeton Landing
(728-7096): A New Year’s Eve party is scheduled with classic rock by local band Under the Radar plus Deejay Puffalo, champagne and a balloon drop at midnight. It all starts at 8 p.m. There is a $10 cover and the party is for those 21 and above.
(726-4090): Jazz music performed by Deborah Winters is scheduled from 5:30 p.m. until midnight.
(747-0331): Reggae music by The Dreaded Truth from 9:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. with a champagne toast at midnight.
(560-9039): will celebrate with a live jazz band and special menu starting at 6 p.m., though there is no seating after 10:30 p.m.
(726-4444): The regular menu is available and you can dance to a deejay from 10 p.m. until midnight when there will be a champagne toast.
Sushi Main Street
(726-6336): A New Year’s Eve dinner celebration with Suzahn Fiering, touring artist and songwriter who has been known to co-host events with Sir Paul McCartney to raise funds for international arts education, will perform jazz standards as well as originals and jazz and blues arrangements of classic songs from 6 to 10 p.m. She welcomes other musicians to sit in and play along. Call for reservations.
Cameron’s Restaurant and Inn
726-5705): Little partygoers get to count down to the new year at 9 p.m. while watching the ball drop at Times Square on the inn’s televisions, and grown-ups get their chance at midnight West Coast time after dancing to a deejay and karaoke starting at 9 p.m.
