DUI

9:34 p.m., Jan. 20, Avenue Alhambra

A father was caught driving while drunk. He told Sheriff’s deputies he left his 2-year-old daughter home alone while he went shopping. Officers went to his home and found his child was in good condition. They waited at the home until the mother arrived to take custody of her daughter.

Theft

9 p.m., Jan. 24, El Granada Boulevard

Someone entered an unlocked vehicle and stole a laptop and a pair of sunglasses. The items were worth $1,100.

Half Moon Bay

10:49 p.m., Jan. 27, Highway 92

A 52-year-old transient was drunk and causing a disturbance. Police arrested the man and took him to jail.

Battery

3:40 p.m., Jan. 25, Lewis Foster Drive

Two male teenagers got into a fight at Half Moon Bay High School over some money they found on the ground. One of the teenagers grabbed the other by the throat. The case has been forwarded to the district attorney’s office.

1:50 p.m., Jan. 27, Church Street

A 14-year-old student at Cunha Intermediate School reportedly punched another student in the face. The victim suffered minor injuries, and the offending student was arrested.

8 a.m., Jan. 30, Spruce Street

Officers responding to a domestic dispute call surmised that a woman and man had both assaulted each other. The case has been forwarded to the district attorney’s office.

Burglary

5:30 a.m., Jan. 26, Miramontes Point Road

Someone broke into a car to steal two flashlights and $2 in cash.

6:46 a.m., Jan. 29, Highway 1

A 32-year-old woman was spotted stealing televisions from CVS Pharmacy. The woman, identified as Venus Elaine Jackson, had reportedly been committing similar thefts in other San Mateo County cities, and she was already incarcerated when local authorities began their investigation. The Half Moon Bay crimes were added to her other charges.

8 a.m., Feb. 1, Kelly Avenue

Somebody broke into the coin machine at the Kelly Street Laundry and stole about $60.

7 a.m., Jan 29, Redondo Beach Road

A daycare business was burglarized when someone stole about $655 worth of items, including children’s books, toys and a stereo.

Disturbance

11:11 a.m., Jan. 29, Highway 1

Several teenagers were fighting at a shopping center. When police arrived, one young man fled the area, and he resisted arrest when he was caught. He was charged with obstructing an officer.

Drugs

10:12 a.m., Jan. 28, Church Street

A 14-year-old student was arrested for possessing marijuana at Cunha Intermediate School.

10:05 a.m., Jan. 29, Lewis Foster Drive

A Half Moon Bay High School student admitted to having a small amount of marijuana that she bought from another student for $5. The student who sold her the marijuana said this was the first time he’s ever sold drugs. Both students were released to school staff.

Hit-and-run

1:35 p.m., Jan. 27, Highway 92

A bicyclist was struck by the side mirror of a vehicle and was knocked to the ground. The suspect car, identified as a silver Nissan Maxima, drove away and didn’t stop to help.

Restraining order

Jan. 13, Potter Avenue

A restraining order was violated twice in an ongoing dispute between two neighbors.

Theft

4 a.m., Jan. 26, Main Street

Someone stole a stack of newspapers that had been left on the side of the road for delivery. Police said the stack was worth about $938.

6:40 a.m., Jan. 26, Hawser Lane

A car owner found someone had been tampering with his car, opening up the glove box and spilling all the contents onto the floor. The car owner also believed half the fuel in his gas tank was siphoned out. Nothing else was stolen from the vehicle.

7 a.m., Jan. 30, Highway 1

Two bicycles were stolen from the front of a trailer near the Coastal Trail. Two older bikes were found nearby on the trail, which led the victim to believe two thieves had stolen his newer bikes and abandoned their old ones.

9 a.m., Jan. 30, Oak Avenue

A $300 dirt bike was stolen from a carport.

2:45 a.m., Jan. 31, Highway 1

A 20-year-old man was caught prowling through an RV campground. The suspect had a pair of shoes and a work light that were both similar to items missing from the park. The suspect was released on the promise to appear in court.

7 a.m., Feb. 1, Main Street

Two large bins of copper wire were stolen. The wire was worth about $200.

Vandalism

11:30 a.m., Jan. 29, Miramontes Point Road

A stray golf ball smashed through the window of a residence.

Weapon

3 p.m., Feb. 1, Church Street

Two 12-year-old students at Cunha Intermediate School were caught with a Swiss Army-style folding knife and a crowbar. The two boys told police they brought the weapons to defend themselves against other students who were threatening them. The students were reprimanded by school officials, who also promised to look into the possible bullying.

3:28 a.m., Jan. 27, Alameda Avenue

A woman reported a strange man was sitting on her front porch by himself in the middle of the night. The man was spitting on the ground, and apparently yelling and cursing at no one in particular. When Sheriff’s deputies arrived, they observed that the man had laid out his wallet and keys on the ground, and he was leaning against the front door, wobbling on his feet. He had been drinking earlier in Princeton and had wandered aimlessly. He was arrested and taken to jail.

1 p.m., Jan. 20, Medio Avenue

Three long scratches were keyed into the exterior of a car.

9:23 a.m., Jan. 25, Highway 1

A car parked at McNee Ranch State Park was burglarized when someone smashed a window and stole nothing but two reusable grocery bags. The two bags were worth $10.

9:34 a.m., Jan. 23, Derecho Street

Someone broke into a vehicle and stole a CD stereo player.

11:05 a.m., Jan. 22, Apple Orchard Way

A license plate was stolen from a vehicle parked at the Moonridge Housing Complex.
