Stephanie Garcia took a pass from Emma Barr and put the shot in the goal for the score.

The two had a brief celebration. The goal gave Half Moon Bay a 2-1 lead with about five minutes left in the Peninsula Athletic League Ocean Division match Thursday.

The Vikings had one final push. They scored with a few seconds left in the match, achieving a 2-2 tie.

Half Moon Bay'€™s Andrea Huerta heads a ball with Mills'€™ defender Erica Wong close behind. The teams finished in a 2-2 tie.

Half Moon Bay ended the first half of the season two days earlier with a 4-0 win over El Camino.

The Cougars will be home for the next two weeks. They were scheduled to host Westmoor on Monday to complete the suspended match of Jan. 19. Half Moon Bay was leading 1-0, with five minutes left in the first half.

The Cougars host Jefferson Tuesday. Results of those matches were not available at press time.

The Cougars play at South San Francisco on Thursday.

Half Moon Bay plays Capuchino at Skyline on Monday in a makeup of the postponed Jan. 21 match.

The Vikings took a 1-0 lead late in the first half. Half Moon Bay tied the score early in the second half, as Garcia scored taking a pass from Brooke Penner.

The Cougars kept attacking the Mills goal, finally scoring with five minutes left in the match.

“I waited for Emma to get me the ball,” Garcia said. “I thought that goal would be enough for the win.”

Half Moon Bay kept attacking after the score. But Mills countered, getting the ball in the Half Moon Bay penalty box. An attempt to boot the ball away was deflected to Mills’ Kendra McIntyre who scored the tying goal.

“We just had a little mistake at the end,” co-coach Jeff Turgeon said. “We did dominate most of the second half.”

The tie still gives Half Moon Bay a chance for the league title. The Cougars are in third place in the league at 4-1-1, trailing league-leading San Mateo (6-0) and Capuchino (5-1).

“We are still in the hunt,” Turgeon said.
