Antone “Tony” V. Andrade

Mr. Andrade passed away, Monday, Nov. 30, 2009, at Seton Coastside Medical Center in Moss Beach, Calif., at the age of 91.

He is survived by Jeanne Godbey of Stockton, Calif, Gail Heistand of San CarIos, Calif., and Roy and Marcia Howell of San Gregorio, Calif,; his grandchildren, Antone John Andrade of Lodi, Calif., Marty Andrade of Redwood City, Calif., Kristina Howell of Belmont Calif., and Carolyn Staley of San Carlos, Calif. There are additional grandchildren living in Tennessee and West Virginia.

Tony was born on the family ranch in San Gregorio where he and his brother farmed for many years. Tony and his brother were also the owners of Andrade Radio and TV in Half Moon Bay for more than 30 years. Tony also was employed by the Operating Engineers Local No. 3 for 20 years until his retirement in the 1970s. After retirement, Tony continued to operate Andrade Hydraulics in Half Moon Bay until his death.

Tony was a member of the American Legion Post 474 for more than 54 years. He served as the post’s commander and other chair positions through the years. He was active in the LO.O.F., the UJE and the Cat Farm Bureau, as well as the Pescadero Grange.

Tony served in World War 1I as a tank driver in the 1st Armored Division in the European theater and additionally with the Army of occupation in Germany immediately following the end of the war. He loved his country and his time spent with "'Old Ironsides" driving his tank.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice Andrade, his son, Antone Roger Andrade, his brother, John Andrade, and his son-in-law, Seraphim "Bud" Quadros.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, Dec. 8, at MDCC. Graveside service will be at Skylawn at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2009.
