Burglary

4 p.m., Nov. 23, Sonora Street

A burglar used tools to punch out the lock on the passenger-side door of a car parked in a driveway. The burglar stole a $250 car stereo.

DUI

10:48 p.m., Nov. 18, Valencia Avenue

A driver was pulled over for zipping past a stop sign. The driver, who was on parole, smelled like booze and admitted to San Mateo County Sheriff’s deputies that he had been drinking. He was arrested and taken to jail.

Theft

10:01 a.m., Nov. 22, Coral Reef Avenue

Someone accessed an unlocked vehicle and stole a pair of binoculars and a garage door opener.

3:15 p.m., Nov. 28, The Alameda

Someone entered an unlocked car and ransacked the interior, stealing several items.

6:29 p.m., Nov. 24, Kelly Avenue

Two teenage boys were spotted dumping several cans of beer near a fence when officers drove by. Police charged both teenagers with violating their probation terms.

Burglary

1:36 a.m., Nov. 27, Highway 1

A 16-year-old boy snatched two large bottles of vodka from the liquor aisle of Rite Aid and tried to leave the store. Police later caught the young man, who was on probation and was prohibited from drinking alcohol and breaking curfew. While he was being arrested, the teenager spit into the face of one officer. He was taken to juvenile hall.

Disturbance

3:39 p.m., Nov. 25, Kelly Avenue

A couple showed police a rambling and nonsensical letter their landlord had given them. Police later contacted the landlord and advised him not to contact his tenants unless it was necessary.

Dumping

7:24 a.m., Nov. 26, St. John Avenue

A man reportedly dumped a piece of broken furniture in the driveway of his mother’s home.

Fraud

Nov. 4, Mirada Avenue

A man gave his credit card information to a company advertising with Internet pop-up ads. He later was charged $82 and wanted police to document the incident. Police officer wrote up a report, but determined that no crime had actually occurred.

Theft

6 a.m., Nov. 24, Young Avenue

Three lights were stolen from a barn. Together they were valued at $10.

Weapon

1:30 a.m., Nov. 28, Highway 1

A group of suspicious people in a parked vehicle were approached by police. One 16-year-old boy was drunk and a 20-year-old man was caught with metal knuckles. The juvenile was charged with public intoxication and released to his parent. The older man was arrested for possessing a dangerous weapon and taken to jail.

La Honda

2:15 a.m., Nov. 22, Laguna Drive

Sheriff’s deputies looking into illegal fireworks in La Honda were sidetracked by a person who was interfering with their investigation. The person was arrested for resisting police.

DUI

8:59 p.m., Nov. 21, Gazos Creek Road

A vehicle was spotted pulled over but blocking half the roadway. A driver got out of the car when deputies arrived, but he was having trouble keeping his balance and had to lean on his car. He failed sobriety tests and was arrested.



Miramar

Fight


1 a.m., Nov. 22, Coronado Avenue

Several men were reportedly fighting in front of a house. Sheriff’s deputies arrived and halted the fight. A significant amount of blood was found both inside and outside the home. Drugs and alcohol were found at the home. Six men were arrested and taken to jail.

Single mom needs help with bills


This month's spotlight request was from Shannon Sinnock of Half Moon Bay. After her divorce, Sinnock received support from her ex-husband to help with the costs of raising their two daughters. Five years ago, Sinnock’s ex-husband passed away, leaving her without child support or funds for the girls. One daughter is now 24 and living away. Sinnock’s younger daughter, Charlotte, 16, is a junior at Half Moon Bay High.
