DUI

10:26 p.m., Nov. 1, Capistrano Road

Deputies pulled over a car for a vehicle-code violation and soon realized the driver was very drunk. The man driving the car told deputies he didn’t have a driver’s license and he had a strong smell of beer. He admitted he had two beers before driving. Then he admitted he actually had six beers. Then he failed his sobriety test. Then he was arrested.

Missing person

2:02 a.m., Oct. 31, Sonora Avenue

A teenage boy went with friends to see a movie and contacted his mother around midnight, telling her he was in Half Moon Bay waiting for a ride home. But he never came home. The mother tried to call her son and his friends, but had no success. So she called the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office and deputies began scouting the area. The son returned the following day, saying he was just hanging out longer with his friends.

Accident

2:21 p.m., Nov. 5, Belleville Boulevard

A woman backed her vehicle into an unattended car, so she left a note on the windshield telling the car owner to come to her house to settle the damages. The car owner later complained that he went to her house but no one was home.

3:43 p.m., Nov. 6, Lewis Foster Drive

A high-school student was cited for driving without a license and getting into a minor accident.

Alcohol

10:29 p.m., Nov. 3, Highway 1

A drunken bicyclist was spotted trying to ride along the side of the highway. Witnesses saw him falling off his bike. He was arrested for public intoxication.

3:39 p.m., Nov. 6, Miramontes Point Road

A 47-year-old Half Moon Bay woman was getting very drunk at a restaurant bar and was refusing to pay her $137 tab for food and drinks. Police arrested the woman, citing her for being too drunk to care for herself.

8:33 p.m., Nov. 8, Grandview Boulevard

A bicyclist suspected of being drunk fell off his bike and injured himself. He had a large cut across his face.

Assault

Nov. 3, Lewis Foster Drive

A 14-year-old high-school student punched another student in the back of the head as he was walking by. Police say the aggressor had previously challenged the other student to fight several times before. The alleged attacker was arrested and taken to Hillcrest Juvenile Detention Facility.

Child endangerment

8:06 p.m., Nov. 4, Miramontes Point Road

A 35-year-old Half Moon Bay man was cited for not securing his children in the car with seat belts or car seats. Police further cited the driver for being unlicensed.

Drugs

11:34 p.m., Nov. 7, Main Street

Police officers were trailing a known parolee driving on a suspended license through downtown Half Moon Bay when they saw him toss something out along the side of the road. Police recovered the item, a bag of methamphetamine, and arrested the driver, identified as 36-year-old Jerry Faial, on a felony charge.

Theft

12 a.m., Oct. 29, Terrace Avenue

Someone used another person’s phone account to purchase music from the Internet. The Internet provider reversed the charges.

9:04 a.m., Nov. 5

A car owner complained that someone borrowed his car and never returned it.

Vandalism

7:45 a.m., Nov. 5, Kelly Avenue

Someone slashed the tire of a parked vehicle.

11 p.m., Nov. 6, Arnold Way

A drunken 17-year-old girl was crying after being locked out of her home by her boyfriend. The boyfriend told police he locked her out because she broke a sliding glass door and a couple of dishes. The case has been forwarded to the district attorney’s office.

Pescadero

Lost hiker

7 p.m., Oct. 31, Pescadero Creek Road

A man and a woman hiking through San Mateo County Memorial Park got lost while wandering the trails and were getting scared because it was getting dark. They dialed 911 for help, telling the dispatcher they had no flashlight, but did have food and water. Deputies determined the hikers were lost somewhere along the Butano Ridge Trail loop and they coordinated with county park rangers to begin searching the trails. The hikers were located at about 10:30 p.m., more than 10 hours after they started out on their hike. Apparently, a wrong turn on the trail led them astray. Neither hiker was injured.

10:41 p.m., Nov. 1, Bonita Street

A drunken man was reportedly misbehaving at a Midcoast residence, throwing things around the home. Deputies found the man lying on the ground, and they determined he was unable to care for himself.
