Coast Guard medevacs man from tanker off Pacifica

A Coast Guard helicopter crew have transported a 48-year-old tanker crewman from a ship 25 miles off the coast of Pacifica to Mills-Peninsula hospital.

Coast Guard Sector San Francisco received a request for assistance early Wednesday morning from crewmembers of the 752-foot tanker vessel, Fedor. They reported a a fellow crewman in distress and in need of medical attention. A flight surgeon was contacted, and a medevac authorized. Watchstanders launched an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter and crew from Air Station San Francisco at 9 a.m. who arrived on scene shortly after.

After successfully hoisting the crewmember, the helicopter crew returned to the air station and transferred the patient to emergency medical personnel who were awaiting his arrival. His condition is unknown.
