The Cougars completed the Peninsula Athletic League Ocean Division season with two 7-0 wins over Hillsdale and Sequoia early last week, to finish the season, 14-0.
The title qualified the Cougars to play in the PAL Tournament Thursday, where they fell to Burlingame, 6-1. Rina Haack recorded Half Moon Bay’s lone win of the match.

Results from Tuesday’s matches were not available at press time.
The Cougars find out Saturday if they still have matches to play after the CCS seeding meeting takes place. Half Moon Bay will attempt to get one of 10 at-large bids to the 24-team tournament.
The other 14 teams have received automatic bids.
“One coach said we have a very good chance of getting in,” said Half Moon Bay coach Michael Hendricks. “I’m more of a 50/50 guy.”
If the Cougars don’t qualify for CCS, there will be no complaints from Hendricks. The Cougars repeated as league champions.
“This has been a wonderful experience,” Hendricks said. “We lost seven starters and got seven new players. We had two freshmen (Haack and Eleanor Jolley) from Cunha (Intermediate School) who did a great job for us. We are looking forward to more players from Cunha helping us out next year.”
When Half Moon Bay reconvenes next year, it will be in the upper league, the PAL Bay Division.
“We will be able to definitely field a frosh-soph team,” Hendricks said. “We had almost 20 players this year. We are looking for more people to come up next year.”
