4:46 a.m., Oct. 27, Highway 1
An abandoned vehicle was found in a drainage ditch along the side of Highway 1. The car had apparently gone off the road and crashed into a concrete pipe along the ditch. The car had extensive damage and both front-seat airbags had been deployed, but police could not locate the driver or any passengers. Police called the registered owner of the car, an El Granada resident, who said he had no idea who was driving his car that night. The owner told police he would check with his family and call back later.

7 p.m., Oct. 30, Lewis Foster Drive
Four female high school students were caught drinking alcoholic beverages and were released to the school staff, who notified their parents.
Disturbance
7:51 p.m., Oct. 27, Filbert Street
Two drivers who were involved in an accident two days earlier clashed once again when they began arguing over the cost of damage to their cars. The driver at fault complained that the other driver was trying to milk her insurance for overpriced repairs. She eventually acquiesced and provided her insurance information.
DUI
3:15 a.m., Oct. 24, Highway 1
A truck driver revved his engine and zipped past Sheriff’s deputies on Highway 1. The deputies later found the driver and his friends with his truck at Half Moon Bay High School. The driver appeared drunk and smelled of booze, but he promised deputies that he was just waiting for a ride home. A short time later, deputies spotted him once again driving and turning onto Main Street. He failed a sobriety test and was promptly arrested.
1:01 a.m., Oct. 27, Filbert Street
A 23-year-old man was spotted driving erratically. Police pulled over the man and arrested him for driving while drunk.

8:50 p.m., Oct. 30, Poplar Street
Fireworks launched from the beach are believed to have started a small grass fire on the coastal bluffs.
ID Theft
Oct. 18, Arnold Way
A Half Moon Bay resident discovered someone had been using his Social Security number when state tax officials began questioning his employer about withheld earnings.
Missing person
1:30 p.m., Nov. 1, Highway 1
An adult male transient was found after being reported missing by his mother. The man said he neglected to call his mother for a couple weeks and said he’d be sure to call home now.
10 p.m., Oct. 29, Kelly Avenue
A woman was worried because her granddaughter didn’t come home. The granddaughter was entered into the missing persons database.
Theft
4 p.m., Oct. 28, Main Street
A pressure washer was stolen. It was valued at $1,200.
Threat
9:24 a.m., Oct. 29, Touraine Lane
An employer called for police after finding an angry note left on a computer by a recently laid-off employee. The employer interpreted the note to be a threat. Police contacted the employee, who denied she was threatening her former boss.

A 59-year-old transient, James Scott, was arrested on a felony, no-bail warrant.
La Honda
DUI
10:08 p.m., Oct. 21, La Honda Road
Deputies spotted a dilapidated truck on the side of the highway. It had a flat tire and lots of tools were scattered around the area. A man was sleeping in the driver’s seat and had a strong scent of alcohol on his breath. Asked how much he drank that night, the man replied, “Too much.” And it wasn’t his first time. His license had been previously suspended for multiple DUI charges. He was once again arrested and taken to jail.

9:52 a.m., Oct. 26, Twelfth Street
Over the course of three days, someone’s PayPal account was fraudulently charged for $5,175 for electronics that were sent to an address in Phoenix.

3:30 p.m., Oct. 27, Lancaster Boulevard
Shots were reportedly fired into a house, breaking the glass of a large sliding door. Deputies arrived and found several people in the backyard firing a pellet gun at the broken window. Two of the suspects were arrested for reckless discharge of a weapon.
