Frank Nerli

Published/Last Modified on Wednesday, Oct 21, 2009 - 04:00:55 pm PDT

This gentleman was “One Class Act Man”, born on October 10, 1912 to Paolo and Isola (Piegaia) Nerli, left us on October 16, 2009 at the age of 97.

Frank was a beloved husband of Mildred Nerli, loving father, grandfather and great grandfather to 5 children, 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Frank was a true part of the Half Moon Bay history. Born in Lobitos, Ca and raised in Half Moon Bay, he started his working life as a farmer on the coast working the land across from what is now the Half Moon Bay Airport. He then worked as a bartender in the family restaurant called “Nerli’s Place” while performing a little bootlegging on the side. He eventually started his own family and became the owner of “The Hideaway” bar and restaurant in Redwood City. He retired at the age of 78.

We will miss your smiling face at the head of the table and the best polenta and chicken this side of Italy. We all LOVE you and will always have you in our hearts forever.

A celebration of life will be held at the Waterfront Restaurant at Pete’s Harbor located at #1 Uccelli Blvd in Redwood City (650) 298-9896 on Saturday October 24 commencing at 2:00pm. Live plants requested by family and can be sent to 112 Wheeler Ave, Redwood City, CA 94061. These will be planted in his honor as a living memorial.
