Published/Last Modified on Wednesday, Oct 14, 2009 - 01:44:06 pm PDT

David E. Kalman, formerly of Northern California, died suddenly October 12, 2009, at his home in Troy, Michigan.  He was 64 years old.  David was born November 17, 1944, in Brigham City, Utah, to Manuel Kalman and Diane Krezmer.

David grew up in Marin County, California, and served proudly in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. On November 24, 1990, he married the love of his life, Kathy Nistor.  In California, David worked in computers and telecommunications, but when he and Kathy moved to Michigan, he began a career in real estate and healthcare. David was a sensitive and empathetic man who was extremely generous with both his time and his attention to others.  He was also known as outgoing, gregarious, and animated.  He loved riding motorcycles, especially BMWs and Gold Wings. He will be deeply missed by many.

David is survived by his wife, Kathy, sister, Susan Kalman, and aunts, Marion Gauthier of Montreal and Helen Endres.  He is also survived by his father and mother-in-law, Joseph and Lucretia Nistor, brother-in-law, Thomas (Leana) Nistor, and nephews, Steven, Matthew (Amanda) and Evan Nistor.

Private services have been arranged.

Memorials appreciated to Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA, 12 Airport Blvd., San Mateo, California 94401-1006.
