The San Mateo County Coroner’s Office says the 74-year-old woman who died in a car crash on Devil’s Slide during the storm Tuesday morning was Marilyn Bosshart of Half Moon Bay.

An analyst at the coroner’s office released Bosshart’s name Wednesday afternoon, but could not comment on the cause of death.

Bosshart was driving north on Devil’s Slide Tuesday morning through the rain and wind when a car coming south crossed the double yellow lines and collided with her head-on. The car trailing Bosshart also smashed into her car, a Geo Prism. Authorities pronounced Bosshart dead due to fatal injuries she sustained in the crash. The driver of the southbound car was transported to San Francisco General Hospital.

The California Highway Patrol shut down the roadway for nearly four hours until the wreckage had been cleared.
