Half Moon Bay

Alcohol

3:42 p.m., Oct. 1, Purisima Street

A 60-year-old man passed out in the backyard of a house, after he was acting “out of control” and was refusing to leave, according to the homeowner. Police arrested the man, deeming him too drunk to care for himself.

Battery

6:39 p.m., Oct. 3, Metzgar Street

A woman reported that her boyfriend grabbed her during a dispute and took her cell phone. The man later returned the cell phone, but he refused to give back the memory card. The woman was uninjured.

Drugs

11:59 a.m., Sept. 29, Highway 1

A 25-year-old driver from Montara was cited after police officers found a jar of marijuana in his car. Officer pulled over the driver because his car had expired registration tags. When police learned he was on probation, they performed a mandatory search, finding the illegal drugs.

11:26 p.m., Oct. 1, Seymour Street

A 19-year-old Half Moon Bay man on probation, Steven Dunsmore, was arrested for felony possession of methamphetamine after officers caught him suspiciously walking around Main Street at night. Dunsmore admitted to ingesting methamphetamine earlier in the day. He was arrested and taken to jail.

9:56 p.m., Oct. 2, Terrace Avenue

An 18-year-old driver from El Granada was caught speeding down Highway 1. A passenger in the car was caught with a small amount of marijuana. Police released the teenagers on their promise to appear in court.

1:07 a.m., Oct. 3, Main Street

Police stopped a 20-year-old with a record of driving cars without a license. Once again, the man didn’t have a license, but police soon determined that he was also very drunk. The driver failed sobriety tests, but a passenger in his car was more intoxicated. The passenger, 19-year-old Israel Santiago, admitted to ingesting methamphetamines a few hours earlier. Police found a small amount of the drug on him, a felony crime. Both men were taken to jail.

Fight

6:21 p.m., Oct. 1, Kelly Avenue

Two men reportedly began fighting near Mac Dutra Park in Half Moon Bay. A 39-year-old man was found to be extremely drunk and was arrested for causing the fight. But the other man, a 31-year-old, was found to have a misdemeanor warrant on his records. He was cited and released.

8:50 p.m., Oct. 2, Lewis Foster Drive

A former Half Moon Bay High School student reportedly instigated a fight with a parent at a football game. The former student was told to leave. He refused at first. However, he did leave just before police arrived.

Missing person

10:11 a.m., Sept. 27, Dolores Avenue

Family members reported that an adult woman and her boyfriend were moving to another state, but had not reached their destination and weren’t answering their cell phones. The couple was entered into the missing persons database.

Theft

5:30 p.m., Sept. 28, Highway 1

A 25-year-old man was caught with a stolen cell phone, which he claimed he found on the ground. The man had already made several calls on the phone.

10:12 a.m., Sept. 30, Highway 92

A man left a wallet and cell phone unattended at a table in front of a grocery store. A witness called police after spotting two transients grab the items.  The transients said they found the wallet, and didn’t know they were stealing anything. The victim declined to seek prosecution.

4:45 p.m., Sept. 30, Church Street

A green and brown camouflaged “Hard Rock” mountain bike was stolen after being left unlocked in front of Cunha Intermediate School. The bike was valued at $500.

Oct. 2, Highway 1

A drunken man from Moss Beach was caught trying to shoplift a bottle of liquor. Police believed that 56-year-old man was too drunk to care for himself. He was arrested and taken to First Chance.

Trespass

3:25 p.m., Oct. 5, Kelly Avenue

A transient climbed over a fence and wandered through the backyard of a home in violation of a restraining order. The case is being forwarded to the district attorney’s office for review.

Vandalism

6:47 p.m., Sept. 27, Apple Orchard Way

Some kind of chemical was spilled over the door of a truck, damaging the body and causing the paint to peel off.

7:30 p.m., Sept. 30, Miramontes Avenue

An unlocked classroom at Hatch Elementary School was vandalized when somebody tore down posters and scrawled gang graffiti on the white boards.

Oct. 5, Church Street

Somebody broke into Cunha Intermediate School, breaking a window, damaging a door handle and setting off two fire extinguishers.

12:30 a.m., Sept. 26, Reflection Lake

A noise complaint sent Sheriff’s deputies to check on a house party, where they found several people drinking large amounts of alcohol. One of the men was having great difficulty standing up and following simple directions. Deputies arrested the man, deeming him too drunk to take care of himself.

Drugs

9:29 p.m., Sept. 29, La Honda Road

Sheriff’s deputies found a bag of methamphetamine when they searched through a vehicle with the consent of the driver.

Montara

Burglary

8:07 p.m., Sept. 25, Grey Whale Cove

Someone broke into the passenger side window of a parked car and stole a woman’s purse.
