1:09 a.m., Sept. 16, Avenue Alhambra

During a routine traffic stop, police spotted a driver drop a baggie of methamphetamines from her pants pocket. She was arrested and taken to jail.

Half Moon Bay

Assault

8 a.m., Sept. 25, Arnold Way

A mother called police after learning her 15-year-old daughter had been pushed during an argument with her father. The daughter was put in the care of her adult sister. The district attorney’s office will investigate whether the father assaulted his daughter.

Battery

12:42 a.m., Sept. 27, Poplar Street

A 19-year-old Moss Beach resident was arrested after police were sent out to break up a fight on the beach.

Drugs

11:51 p.m., Sept. 22, Highway 92

Police chased a vehicle that was swerving on the highway with its turn signal on. After he stopped, the driver was searched and was found to have methamphetamine, heroin and marijuana. The driver, a 44-year-old from Menlo Park, admitted to snorting methamphetamine earlier in the day. 

11:09 p.m., Sept. 23, Highway 1

A 29-year-old driver was stopped for tinted window and license plate violations. Police found the driver was clearly not sober, and they located a bag of methamphetamines in his car, which the driver admitted to ingesting earlier.

11:27 a.m., Sept. 25, Lewis Foster Drive

Parents asked police to talk with their 16-year-old daughter, who had been repeatedly skipping classes at Half Moon Bay High School. Officers were driving the teenager back to high school and they noticed she was showing signs of intoxication. She physically resisted when police officers and school staff tried to search her purse. Later they discovered the purse contained a small bag of cocaine. Police officers say they have found an 18-year-old woman who may have provided the cocaine to the younger girl.

10:51 p.m., Sept. 25, Metzgar Street

A 16-year-old male was found with a small amount of marijuana when police stopped him for driving at night with his headlights off.

Fraud

Sept. 28, Kelly Avenue

A business owner reported an employee had opened a fraudulent company credit account using a stolen Social Security number. The employee used the account to embezzle money from the company. City police forwarded this case to another police department closer to where the suspect resides.

Gang incident

11:14 p.m., Sept. 24, Highway 1

Two known gang members were found socializing, which is prohibited under their probation guidelines. The two men were searched and “gang-related' information was found on their cell phones.

Missing person

9:56 p.m., Sept. 24, Colonel Way

A juvenile refused to go home from a friend's house.

Threats

12:20 p.m., Sept. 23, Main Street

A transient at Mac Dutra Park reportedly began yelling threats and obscenities at a 70-year-old man who stopped with his two dogs to use the park restroom. For no discernable reason, the 42-year-old transient went off on a fulminating tirade, according to the victim. Police later found the suspect and arrested him.

8 a.m., Sept. 28, Pine Avenue

Somebody scratched gang-related graffiti into a vehicle’s paint.

3:17 p.m., Sept. 16, Montara State Beach

Someone was arrested for masturbating on the beach.

Moss Beach

Alcohol

6:09 p.m., Sept. 19, Lancaster Boulevard

A drunken man was spotted sitting in the dirt in the intersection of the road, sipping a 22-oz. can of beer. The man was trying to conceal the alcoholic beverage in his sweater. Sheriff's deputies talked with the man and reported that he could not recall where he was or what day it was. He was placed under arrest.

Prowler

2:15 a.m., Sept. 21, Codo Lane

A woman at her home was terrified when she heard someone opening her screen door and trying to get into her house. Sheriff's deputies arrived at her home and could faintly make out a man standing idly in front of her home. The stranger ignored the deputies' orders to step away from the home. Instead the officers approached the man and quickly forced him to the ground and handcuffed him. The suspected prowler was a man they arrested just two days earlier and has had multiple run-ins with the law for alcohol-related problems. The man was arrested once again and taken to jail.
