Two high-school students were questioned regarding a fight between them. Both admitted to fighting, but neither wanted to press charges. Police warned them against fighting in the future.

A restaurant patron told police that an unknown man punched him in the face.

Hit and run
10:30 a.m., Sept. 18, Highway 1
A driver fled the scene after colliding into a parked car at Strawflower Village. A nearby witness spotted the hit and run, and left a note on the damaged car with the suspect’s license plate number. Police later contacted the suspect at his home, and he denied hitting the vehicle. The case will be forwarded to the district attorney’s office.
10:45 p.m., Sept. 18, Highway 92
A 27-year-old driver with a suspended license backed his vehicle into a parked car, and then tried to quickly drive away. Security personnel at a nearby restaurant stopped the driver and phoned police. The driver was found to be drunk and was arrested.

9:40 a.m., Sept. 21, Church Street
Two girls from Cunha Intermediate School skipped school and were reported missing by their parents. One of the girls’ fathers located the girls and brought them to the police station.

Sept. 15, Chesterfield Avenue
A passport and Social Security paperwork was stolen from a backpack.

8:30 p.m., Sept. 9, Harvard Avenue
Five people were reportedly fighting in the street, prompting Sheriff’s deputies to intervene. The participants said the fight was actually a family dispute. Deputies found no crime had occurred but advised the combatants on how to get a restraining order.

Missing person
3 p.m., Sept. 12, Highway 1
A hiker and his daughter got lost while wandering through an afternoon of heavy fog at McNee Ranch State Park. The hiker made a call to a county emergency center on his cell phone, telling them he had no idea where he was. Using the cell phone signal, county emergency workers were able to determine the hikers were near San Pedro Valley Road. Deputies searching on foot found the hikers after about two hours. They were both dehydrated and hungry but otherwise fine.

6:30 p.m., Sept. 14, Bear Gulch Road
A rancher reportedly was attacked by a man and his dog. The rancher told Sheriff’s deputies that the suspect’s dog attacked his livestock. When he complained, the man grabbed a milk crate and knocked him to the ground. While he was on the ground, the dog started attacking him. The victim filed a citizen’s arrest form to allow deputies to arrest the suspect.
