Dave Iverson, a former Half Moon Bay City Council member and a pioneer of Coastside land-use protections, has died.

Iverson was a World War II veteran who brought the toughness he learned as a Marine to local politics. He founded the Neighbors’ Alliance, which gave way in recent years to other environmental organizations. He also served as president of the Half Moon Bay Open Space Trust during years of activism on the coast.

Dave Iverson founded the Neighbors' Alliance and pushed for the passage of Measure A in Half Moon Bay.
