The victims never received the vehicle and never heard again from the car seller. Worse yet, the victims had almost no information about the seller, because all contact was done through e-mails. The e-mail correspondence was tailored so that it looked as if it was vetted by an “eBay Customer Care Specialist” and an “eBay Motors Agent”--neither of whom actually worked for the online auction company. Sheriff's officials say their investigation has no suspect leads or witness information because the victims never received any information about the vehicle or the seller.
