Authorities have decided to scale back the search for a missing San Carlos man after three days of searching the dense brush off of Skyline Boulevard.

Dozens of professional and volunteer searchers have been looking for 55-year-old Douglas May ever since his father reported him missing on Thursday. May was thought to have gone on a hike near Skegg’s Point in the El Corte de Madera Open Space Preserve.

May’s car was found early Saturday morning in the Skegg’s Point parking lot south of Highway 92. Authorities do not think foul play is involved.

Rescuers using dogs have joined others on horseback and on foot in the search. Authorities have also been looking from the air for May. Anyone with any information is asked to call (650) 363-4911.
