Drunken woman calls police on herself

Half Moon Bay Police were dispatched to the intersection of Spruce and 2nd streets the night of July 10 for medical call. They found a woman in a car and there were keys in the ignition. The woman, a 49-year-old from Half Moon Bay, told police she was too drunk to drive and had called 911 for help. She handed the keys to officers and paramedics took the woman to the hospital. She was cited for DUI and the charges forwarded to the district attorney.

12 p.m., Valencia Avenue

Someone scratched the doors of a car parked in a driveway overnight. The suspect also punched a hole just above one of the taillights. The damage was estimated at $4,000.

10:37 p.m., July 10, Miramontes Avenue

Police rousted six teenagers who were dinking on the Hatch Elementary School campus. All were cited and released.

Burglary

11;45 p.m., July 10, Suzanne Court

A neighbor called police when he heard voices from the vacant house next door. Officers arrived and two suspects tried to flee out of the back balcony. Both were apprehended, as was a third young man who was at his home at the time of arrest. Nineteen-year-old Richard Acosta of Half Moon Bay was arrested along with two juveniles, on charges including burglary and obstructing an officer.

Drag racing

10:51 p.m., July 11, Highway 1

Police arrested 27-year-old Jose Gaytan-Ramirez of Half Moon Bay for drag racing, possession of a fake ID and illegal entry by an alien after seeing Gaytan-Ramirez and another driver racing down the street.

DUI

5:47 p.m., July 10, Highway 1

A 43-year-old Hayward man was cited for driving with a suspended license and for a previous DUI.

1 a.m., July 12, Highway 92

Police arrested a 46-year-old Half Moon Bay woman for DUI after watching her cross the double yellow line several times. She was charged and transported to First Chance.

8:50 p.m., July 10, Church Street

Police discovered graffiti “associated with white supremacy” on the Cunha Intermediate School campus.

Stalking

1:52 p.m., July 12, Third Avenue

A 27-year-old Half Moon Bay man was arrested and taken to jail on charges of stalking and violating a restraining order. Police say the man continued to drive by the house of a former girlfriend, in violation of the order.

Theft

1 a.m. July 10, Main Street

A downtown business owner reported that he mistakenly left a display rack that held 300 cards outside after store closing. He thought it had been stolen, but later learned a neighboring businessman brought it inside for safe keeping.

2:24 p.m., July 10, Highway 1

A hotelier reported the theft of two pillows and three blankets after three men checked out.

7:15 a.m., July 10, Main Street

Someone cut the tire of a delivery truck.

Warrants

11:20 a.m., July 2, Miramontes Point Road

Deputies arrested a man on $8,000 worth of outstanding warrants after finding him flagging down drivers and asking for money.

6:20 p.m., July 10, Highway 1

An officer stopped to talk to a 51-year-old transient at the entrance to Strawflower Village and found the man was wanted on a $1,500 warrant. He was cited and released.

6:55 p.m., July 10, Main Street

An officer on foot patrol cited a pair of city men for misdemeanor warrant violations.

7:34 p.m., July 10, Highway 92

Police went to the home of a woman wanted out of Sonoma County. She was arrested and taken to jail.

8:12 p.m., July 10, Miramontes Avenue

Police cited a Half Moon Bay man who was wanted on a misdemeanor warrant from San Mateo County.

9:20 p.m., July 10, Kelly Avenue

A 34-year-old Half Moon Bay man surrendered at the police station for a warrant violation. He was cited and allowed to leave.

10:02 p.m., July 11, Spruce Street

A 35-year-old Half Moon Bay man was cited for a warrant violation out of San Mateo County.

Theft

3:20 p.m., July 3, 3rd Street

A man walked into the Midcoast Sheriff’s substation to say that the night before a group of men threatened him if he didn’t give them all of his possessions. The victim complied and the suspects are on the loose.
