Boat defaced with spray paint

Someone vandalized a boat in Montara using black spray paint around the entire body of the craft and taping up a cardboard sign reading, “Move this piece of junk.” The boat owner, a San Francisco resident, has no idea who would’ve defaced his boat. He had left the boat on the side of the road near 10th and Main streets since early May. He was contacted more than a month later by the San Francisco Police Department to inform him that his boat had been defaced.

1:38 a.m., June 15, Avenue Alhambra

A man told San Mateo County Sheriff’s deputies he was trying to help a trapped friend escape from a vehicle. But deputies say the man’s actions weren’t as heroic as they might have seemed. They say he was clearly drunk, that he was trying to break open a car that wasn’t his, and no one was actually trapped inside the car. The man was arrested.

7 a.m., June 4, San Clemente Road

Someone smashed a passenger side window to gain entry to a vehicle, stealing a GPS navigator, a pair of sunglasses and a diaper bag. The total loss was estimated to be worth $800.

11:50 a.m., June 10, Avenue Alhambra

Someone reportedly stole a bottle of vodka from the Easy Mart. The suspect pushed a store clerk out of his way as he walked out the door with the vodka. The suspect was caught on a security camera.

4:29 p.m., June 18, Highway 92

A 31-year-old Half Moon Bay resident stole a cell-phone charger from its package at Rite Aid and was observed leaving the store by security guards. The suspected thief pushed guards away when they tried to stop him outside the store but was later apprehended by guards and city police. The suspect has a lengthy criminal record on the Coastside, including charges for assault, drugs and multiple thefts.

6:10 p.m., June 17, Highway 1

Customers at a Half Moon Bay restaurant witnessed an unappetizing sight. A 29-year-old man from San Francisco was reportedly urinating outside in plain view from the restaurant windows. Police cited the man for being a public nuisance.

12:31 p.m., June 18, Highway 1

An employer reportedly threatened a former worker after the employee said he intended to sue for back wages. The employer later told police he “lost it” in the altercation after the worker started talking about his girlfriend.

8:15 p.m., June 16, Highway 92

A woman noticed that someone had rifled through a package left on her doorstop, stealing a key chain valued at $20.

3:50 p.m., June 17, Highway 92

An employee’s purse was stolen from behind the counter of a Half Moon Bay store.

2:10 a.m., June 17, Highway 1

Longs Drugs reported a juvenile stole a bottle of alcohol and ran out of the store.

A Half Moon Bay business manager reported a group of people broke the front window, perhaps accidentally. The damage was estimated at $212.

7 a.m., June 18, Highway 92

Somebody broke a window at a closed business.

2:30 a.m., June 6, Medio Avenue

Deputies driving north on the highway spotted a swaying man urinating on the side of the road, facing oncoming traffic. The man reeked of alcohol and couldn’t follow directions, so he was taken to jail.

12:32 a.m., June 12, Birch Street

A homeowner told sheriff’s deputies that several teenagers were throwing toilet paper at her home. The homeowner chased the kids away, but one of them left a cell phone behind. The deputies left a message for the teen’s mother telling her what to do to get the cell phone back.

DUI

1:23 a.m., June 13, 2nd Street

A driver was found passed out on the side of the road two blocks from his car that was parked in someone else’s front yard. In trying to park the car, the driver had knocked over a lamp post and damaged the landscaping. The driver failed sobriety tests and was taken to jail.

11:29 a.m., June 10, 7th Street

A woman said someone stole her purse during a hip-hop show at the Montara Bistro. The purse contained a camera and about $400 in cash.

12:09 p.m., June 12, Alta Vista Road

A woman suspected her ex-boyfriend had snuck into her house, shattered her planter boxes, damaged her front steps – and smeared feces on her bedroom wall. The woman was advised to change her locks and get a restraining order.

8:01 a.m., June 8, Alamo Street

Several people were found camping without permission on open space property. The campers gave sheriff’s deputies their consent to search through their backpacks, which revealed a glass pipe, a digital scale for weighing drugs and a glass jug of marijuana and hash. A cell phone was confiscated and revealed numerous calls asking one of the young men to sell them marijuana. The suspected dealer, a 19-year-old from Burlingame, was arrested.

11:30, June 5, Capistrano Road

Sheriff’s deputies smelled marijuana coming from the backyard patio of a bar. A man and a woman sitting at a picnic table were approached and asked for identification. A records check on the man revealed he was wanted on a warrant for drug crimes. He was taken to Maguire Correctional Facility.
