Coastside law agencies are searching for a middle-aged man who reportedly assaulted a local woman Monday evening on the Coastal Trail.

The female victim was riding her bicycle across a bridge just north of Francis State Beach in Half Moon Bay around 8 p.m. when she encountered the suspect riding a mountain bike. He allegedly used his bike to block the bridge, preventing the victim from passing. The suspect then grabbed the woman, pulling her off her bicycle.

The victim screamed during the attack, and the suspect fled. The woman was not injured in the attack.

Officers from the Half Moon Bay Police and Sheriff’s Office were unable to locate the suspect after the attack.

Police describe the suspect as a Caucasian male aged 40 to 50 years old, about 5’8” in height with thin dark brown hair, a rounded nose and a pale complexion.

Anyone with information regarding the crime is asked to contact the police at 726-8828.

Little hands doing big work

Amid crates of bananas and barrels of canned food, five children stood eagerly in the shadow of a Pillar Point Harbor warehouse as they waited for vegetables and fruits to be unloaded before they could lend a tiny hand or two to Coastside Hope’s Second Harvest Food Drive.
