Alvin Jay (Poot) McCormick passed away on June 8, 2009 at 84 years of age.  A resident of El Granada for over 40 years, Al’s contagious smile and infectious laugh endeared him to many.  He was a member of Local 467 for 50 years and carried a solid work ethic and servants heart throughout his entire life.  While on leave from Navy service during World War II, he met his wife Flo who was working as a Rosie the Riveter and renting a room from his mother in Michigan.  Having moved to California in the late 50’s, soon after Flo’s passing in 1996 he returned to his native home of Iosco County Michigan to be near his twin brother Melvin (Nink) and other family. There he farmed 84 acres growing alfalfa and raising cattle and chickens.  He continued to entertain whenever possible and was beloved by all who knew him.  Al’s final years were spent along the shores of the Au Gres River in Whittemore, MI where he enjoyed his dog Skeeter, the wildlife and idyllic riverside setting.  He remained in close contact with his family and friends to his final day.  Surviving Al are his brothers Melvin, Martin, Dennis and Rick, his sister Sally, his children Marvin, Margaret and Lori, their respective spouses Barbara, Alan and Bret; grandchildren, Chris, Tom, John, Cindy, Jennifer, Matt and Erin and eight great grandchildren.  Services will be held at Skylawn Memorial Cemetery in the Crystal Springs Chapel on Wednesday, June 17 at 1pm.
