Drawing on health care professionals, children’s advocates, and industry insiders, the film focuses on the growth of child marketing after deregulation. It explores how youth marketers use advances in psychology, anthropology and neuroscience to fashion American children into a marketing demographic.
Prominently featured in the film is Susan Linn, psychologist and author of “Consuming Kids: The Hostile Takeover of Childhood” and other books and co-founder of the Campaign for a Commercial-Free childhood.
The film touches on congressional legislation removing limits on what is sold to children and how, and on those who cite deregulation as having played a crucial role in the current economic crisis.
The church is located at 777 Miramontes St. in Half Moon Bay. The event is open and free to the public.
