Thinking about traffic and trails

Organizers are planning a series of events later this month to highlight transportation issues – including promoting walking – throughout the Midcoast. Plans call for a community meeting the night of June 25 followed by an all-day design workshop the following Saturday and a presentation of the plan concepts on June 27.

The gatherings are sponsored by the San Mateo County Department of Parks and the Local Government Commission, a nonprofit group working to create more livable communities. All of the planning events will be held at the multipurpose room at El Granada Elementary School, 400 Santiago Road in El Granada.

Coastsiders will work with professional planners and, in the end, the plan is to produce a professional design that preserves the character of the coast, better manages traffic, improves safety and other admirable goals.
