Driver blocks highway to yell at bystanders

A truck driver was reportedly blocking both sides of Highway 84 through La Honda last week. Sheriff’s officials say he blocked the road with his truck just so he could yell at people nearby. A group of bystanders alerted a Sheriff’s deputy and told him that the truck driver was drunk and had actually hit them with his vehicle. Seeing the deputy, the truck driver started to drive away, weaving across both lanes of the highway, according to a Sheriff’s report. The deputy later stopped the driver and arrested him for resisting arrest and for recklessly driving without a license.

11:01 p.m., April 25, Highway 1

A married couple staying at a hotel were charged with attacking each other. The wife reportedly threw the hotel TV remote at her husband, hitting him in the face. The husband threw the remote back at his wife, missing her but breaking a hotel glass. After the altercation, the wife tried to call police, but then tried to cancel the request.

1:27 p.m., April 15, Avenue Alhambra

A caller reported an adult woman who was seen hitting an elderly woman in her car. A second witness told the Sheriff’s Office that he also saw the assault and heard the attacker threaten the elderly victim, saying that she would kill her if she told anyone. Deputies turned over the incident to the investigations bureau for review.

6:54 a.m., April 21, Main Street

A 25-year-old driver was cited for getting into a collision without a driver’s license. No one was injured in the accident.

10:53 p.m., April 21, Highway 1

A 27-year-old man from Moss Beach was arrested after falling off his bicycle while riding south on Highway 1. Police arrested the man for being too intoxicated to care for himself.

7:54 p.m., April 21, Roosevelt Beach

A beach brawl involving multiple men was reported to police, but an injured victim at the scene denied being involved in any fight. Witnesses told police that two or three men assailed the injured man, but the attackers ran away before police arrived. The unidentified victim had multiple cuts and bruises across his face, and an officer at the scene said it appeared the man had been drinking beforehand. The injured man refused any medical aid.

7:07 pm., April 26, Grandview Boulevard

A husband reportedly pulled his wife’s arm to get her out of a vehicle as she attempted to leave. The woman was not injured but reported the action to police.

9:45 a.m., April 22, Valdez Avenue

Police responded to a report of a man snooping around a building, trying to tamper with the doors on homes. It was later determined that the man was actually a locksmith hired by a property manager to make new keys. The locksmith had the wrong address.

3:01 p.m., April 22, Miramontes Avenue

A woman refused to let her estranged husband visit their child. Police referred both parents to family court because neither parent had proper paperwork proving they should have custody of their child.

5:38 p.m., April 24,

A 14-year-old gang member was reportedly involved in a fight with members of a rival gang. Everyone involved fled when police arrived, but officers nabbed the 14-year-old, who was arrested for violating his probation.

8:08 p.m., Kelly Avenue

A 17-year-old gang member was seen loitering in front of a business with other known members of a gang. The teenager was arrested for violating his probation.

4 p.m., April 20, Main Street

An 11-year-old Cunha Intermediate Student lost his clarinet after accidentally leaving the instrument on a city bench. The clarinet was gone when the student returned later. The student’s parents said the clarinet was rented from a music store and cost about $300.

9:41 a.m., April 21, Lewis Foster Drive

A 15-year-old student at Half Moon Bay High School reportedly threatened a teacher, telling him: “I’m going to knock you out.” The teacher said he didn’t feel intimidated by the student, but did believe the teenager could have attacked him. The student was suspended from the high school and the case has been forwarded to juvenile probation for review.

Pellets or BBs struck a car, causing scratches to the door and breaking a front fog light.

12:35 p.m., April 23, Highway 92

Somebody spray-painted graffiti on a large planter pot in front of a shopping center.

April 24, Mill Street

Various street signs were defaced with graffiti.

10:30 p.m., April 25, Highway 1

Somebody poured sugar into a car gas tank.

April 26, Main Street

A business owners found uprooted plants strewn across the sidewalk in front of the business. Dirt was also smeared on the front window.

10:30 a.m., April 19, Sixth Street

A resident along the 200 block of Sixth Street reported breaching a gas line with a shovel while he was digging in his front yard. Sheriff’s deputies evacuated the area until PG&E arrived to repair the problem.

Theft

8:38 p.m., April 19, Gray Whale Cove State Beach

A man and his girlfriend reported that their car was burglarized while they were at the beach. The victims lost a wallet, cell phone and various credit cards. The credit cards were used shortly afterward at a Shell gas station and a store in Colma.

6:41 p.m., April 21, Gray Whale Cove State Beach

Another car was broken into while a couple of beachgoers left their car for a walk. When they returned, they found someone had stolen their luggage, laptop, wallet, purse, cell phone and various other items. The credit card was used a short time later at a local gas station.

Public intoxication

1:50 a.m., April 22, Beach Way

Sheriff’s deputies found two drunken men asleep in a vehicle illegally parked in front of the Moss Beach Distillery. Both men in the car were arrested because they were considered too drunk to care for themselves. Later the same night, a third man came up from the beach and began asking deputies what happened to his friends and why his vehicle had been towed. Deputies arrested the man, alleging he was too drunk also.

2:45 p.m., April 21, Capistrano Road

A disgruntled restaurant employee who was recently laid off reportedly deleted more than three gigabytes of marketing information for the restaurant. The management of the restaurant was informed that the matter had to be taken up in civil court.
