The plan now calls for a field hearing of the Financial Services Committee, which is chaired by Massachusetts Rep. Barney Frank. That meeting is expected to take place in San Mateo County, according to Mike Larsen, spokesman for Speier. Larsen said congressional aides were still trying to juggle schedules but that he expected Frank and other members of the committee to attend.
Eshoo and Speier had planned a meeting over the hill on Thursday to take testimony about how the collapse of Lehman was affecting local agencies and individuals. San Mateo County government agencies – including the Cabrillo Unified School District – lost millions of dollars as a result of the fall of the investment giant.
