Speier, Eshoo plan local hearings on Lehman debacle

U.S. Rep. Anna Eshoo and Jackie Speier, who jointly represent the Coastside, plan hearings in Redwood City later this month to allow local agencies damaged by the the collapse of Lehman Brothers to be heard.

The congresswomen have scheduled a Congressional field hearing from 2 to 4 p.m. April 16 at the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors' chambers, 400 County Center in Redwood City.

County government agencies reported investment losses of as much as $155 million as a result of the end of Lehman Brothers in September. The county is suing former company executives. Even private foundations that benefit local agencies, such as the Cabrillo Education Foundation, experienced losses from Lehman Brothers.
